Rodeo Reindeer Hire

The rodeo reindeer, also called a bucking reindeer or a Christmas rodeo, is our festive version of the rodeo bull. Ours is called Rodney: a brown moulded reindeer with antlers, a red Santa hat and a red collar with a gold bell on it, sat on the same motion base the bull uses, in the middle of a round brown surround with a padded green bed. The rider climbs on and tries to stay put while Rodney bucks and spins, and when they come off, which nearly everyone does in the end, they land on the bed rather than the floor.

One of our staff runs it for the whole hire. They set the speed and the spin from the control box, starting slow for anyone who is nervous or having their first go and winding it up for anyone who asks for a faster ride. If you would rather keep it even, everybody can have exactly the same ride. There is a large LED timer alongside showing how long each rider lasted, so the operator will run it as a stay-on competition through the evening if you want one.

Rodney goes indoors as a rule, which suits the time of year he comes out. Function rooms, hotel suites, college halls and club floors are all normal for him, and he sits on carpet or a hard floor without any bother, though we do need the height clearance above the ride and a flat area to put it on.

Works well at

It is a Christmas party ride, so most of the bookings are office parties and works dos, school and college Christmas events, club and pub nights, and family Christmas fun days. Over the 2025 party season Rodney went to HMS Sultan for their Christmas event, to the "All that glitters" Christmas event at Andover College, and to a Christmas party held in the second oldest church in Surrey, which gives you an idea of the range of venues he fits into.

He tends to go out with the rest of the Christmas kit rather than on his own. The Christmas photo booth, the dance machine, the Magic Selfie Mirror, the Lights Out Challenge and the Christmas mega wire all travel to the same parties, and Santa's Christmas grotto works for the family end of it. Rodney is one attachment on a GS Engineering multi-ride base, so the same machine takes the rodeo bull, the rodeo sheep, the rodeo pig, the rodeo rugby ball, the rodeo Christmas pudding and the Halloween rodeo pumpkin. Rodeo reindeer hire across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London

We have run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is all ours, so the person who turns up to run Rodney is one of our own staff and not a sub-contractor. They have passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, are first-aid trained, and hold enhanced DBS certificates, which matters for school and college bookings. The ride is ADIPS-certified, the electrics are PAT-tested every year, and the inflatable surround is inspected annually by our in-house RPII inspector under the PIPA scheme, built to BS EN 14960:2019. The risk assessment is available on request. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate available on request, and the additional licensed-premises cover means there is no issue running him at a pub, club or hotel.
