Laser Quest - the same game most people know as laser tag, and which gets booked with us as Quasar, mobile laser tag or an inflatable laser tag arena - is a fast-paced tag game played with infrared laser guns in a purpose-built arena. Up to ten players compete at once, tagging opponents with the guns while trying not to get tagged themselves. Each gun has built-in sensors and a score display, so there's no arguing about who won at the end of the round.

We run the arena throughout your hire, supervising every game and handling the changeovers between groups. It's safe, there are no live projectiles, and kids from age six upwards can play alongside adults. Recent bookings show the spread it copes with: a freshers fair at the University of Winchester in September 2025 ran the arena alongside the Lights Out Challenge, a Southampton school reward day in July 2026 had it up with the crossbow challenge and the assault course, and a youth group evening with One Youth in Emsworth in October 2025.

How it works

Players put on the equipment and head into the arena. The guns fire infrared beams that register hits on the sensors, and scores show up on each gun's display. Games last a few minutes, so the turn-around is quick and you can get plenty of groups through in a session. It's the same short-game format the Quasar arenas used to run, staffed and set up at your venue.

We can set up indoors or outdoors. Indoor dimensions need at least 35ft x 35ft with 8ft clearance, and outdoors you need 25ft of height and a 40ft x 40ft operational area. Smoke effects are available for outdoor games, weather permitting.

Our kit and our crew

The Area 51 arena and the laser guns are ours, kept at our unit in Havant where Joanne and David have run Monster Event Hire since 2002 - nobody hires it in for the weekend. The crew who build the arena and run the games work for us, and they've passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, hold current first-aid training and are enhanced-DBS registered.

The inflatable arena is PIPA-tagged and inspected annually by our own in-house RPII inspector, and it's built to BS EN 14960:2019. The guns and scoring electrics are PAT-tested every year, and for outdoor setups we supply an anemometer with written wind-speed instructions: a reading every half hour, and the games come off at 24mph. We carry £10 million public liability insurance with the additional licensed-premises cover for pubs, clubs and bars, and we can send the certificate and a risk assessment with your quote.

The arena is a mobile setup that arrives at your venue in sections and inflates on site, which is why it works anywhere from a school field to a festival site. Send us the date, the venue and the rough numbers, and we'll bring the arena to you, set it up and run the games throughout your event.
