Student and Freshers Event Hire

Student and freshers event hire covers welcome days, freshers fairs, student-accommodation socials and the daytime events where people arrive in waves rather than sit through a fixed programme. Short rounds, scores people can see and kit that works in a common room or on a campus lawn usually matter more than a complicated theme.

Choosing games for the format

Freshers fairs and welcome days need games people can understand while walking past. Arcade machines, dance and reaction games, interactive darts and the Batak Pro all suit short turns and visible scores. For an accommodation social or campus lawn, a staffed attraction such as the rodeo bull or Last Man Standing Sweeper gives people something to gather around.

These are not fixed packages. At City of Portsmouth College we supplied the Sweeper, dance machine, Under Pressure light chaser and a photo booth together, while Andover College used a green-screen photo booth, dance machine and giant buzz wire. Chloe Billingham hired the rodeo bull for a student-accommodation event and said the residents "absolutely loved it" and that our team "engaged well with the students".

What we need from you

Tell us the expected numbers, event times, whether people arrive in waves, and whether the kit is going into a hall, common room, student-union venue or outdoor space. We will check access, space, power and staffing against the shortlist rather than leave those details until setup day. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, including licensed-premises cover, and can provide risk assessments and method statements for the venue.

We have run Monster Event Hire from Havant since 2002 and own the equipment we hire. For a quote across Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex or London, send the date, venue, timings, numbers and rough product mix. The broader college and university event hire page covers applicants days, graduations, leavers events and summer balls.

Monster Event Hire were absolutely brilliant, from swift email communication to attentive service on the day. The students, 250 of them, had an incredible time and Dave and the girls were outstanding. I would definitely use them again and look forward to developing this over the coming years.
