Under Pressure / Light Chaser

The Under Pressure game - sometimes called a light chaser, a reaction cage, or a Batak Pro-style speed test - is a one-player electronic game where you stand inside a free-standing cage of silver metal arms and hit the target pads as they light up. The twelve red buttons are mounted on the arms at different heights around you, so you're reaching left, right, up and down rather than tapping a flat panel in front of you. One button lights, you hit it, the next lights somewhere else, and so on until the timer runs out. The LED display at the top of the cage shows your countdown and score throughout.

It's one player at a time, which is part of the reason it works at events - there's always a crowd watching, and everyone thinks they can beat whoever just stepped out. Rounds are short, so the queue turns over quickly. You can run a leaderboard through the day and let people come back for another go to improve their position. These machines are used in professional sports and motorsport training to test reaction speed and hand-eye coordination, which goes some way to explaining the competitive atmosphere they tend to generate.

About the hire

The game goes out with one of our operators, who sets up, runs it throughout and packs down at the end. All our staff have passed the RPII operators exam, hold current first-aid training and are enhanced DBS registered. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate available on request, and we hold licensed-premises cover, which most hire companies don't, so there's no issue if your venue is a pub, club or licensed bar.

We've been running Monster Event Hire since 2002 from our commercial unit in Havant, and all the kit is ours - no sub-contracting.
