Rodeo Christmas Pudding

Manufacturer/supplier: GS Engineering.

The Christmas pudding rodeo, sometimes called a Christmas bucking bull or festive rodeo, is our rodeo bull machine dressed for December: a giant pudding with white icing and a holly sprig sat on the spinning, bucking base, inside an inflatable surround printed with reindeer and elf artwork. Riders climb on and try to stay put while the machine spins and bucks, and most of them land on the padded floor before their ten seconds are up. The LED timer keeps score for whoever is taking it seriously.

One of our operators runs the pudding for the whole hire, setting the speed and spin to suit each rider. That means the office apprentice gets a fair go before somebody from the warehouse asks for the full spin, which is usually the moment the room stops working and starts watching.

Equipment details

  • Staffed throughout: our operator sets the speed and spin for each rider
  • Riders 1.2 metres tall and over, who can climb on and off unaided
  • Inflatable surround with a padded floor, printed with Christmas artwork
  • Large LED timer for stay-on-longest competitions
  • GS Engineering multi-ride base, the same unit the rest of our rodeo attachments fit
  • One standard 13amp socket, and we bring a generator if the nearest one is more than about 50 metres away
  • Indoors it wants about 10ft of height clearance; outdoors it needs a flat site
  • Minimum 1m access width to get the kit in
  • Fully ADIPS certified

Outdoor hires in December

Winter weather ends most outdoor plans, so for outdoor events we can bring our six-legged spider marquee, 21 feet across with pull-down sides that enclose it fully. It takes the ride plus the spectators, and it means a Christmas market, a school field or a brewery courtyard can run the pudding without waiting for a dry spell.

Works well at

Christmas parties and staff dos, university balls, school end-of-term events, Christmas markets and community festive evenings. December is our busiest month for it, and it goes out alongside the Christmas photo booth and Whack an Elf on plenty of multi-item bookings. For the rest of the year the same machine runs as the bull, and the rodeo pumpkin covers Halloween. The full rodeo rides range and the Christmas party entertainment pages list the alternatives.

Christmas pudding rodeo across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London

We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is all ours, so the operator who turns up is one of our own staff rather than a sub-contractor. Every member of the team has passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, is first-aid trained and holds an enhanced DBS certificate, which schools and councils ask about. The rodeo is a mechanical amusement device, and ours are inspected and certified under the ADIPS scheme. We carry £10 million public liability insurance with additional licensed-premises cover, so the pudding can run at a pub, club or hotel without an insurance hold-up, and the certificate is available on request.

We deliver across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and into London, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Guildford and London. Tell us the date, the venue, indoors or out, and roughly how many you are expecting, and we will come back with a quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much space does the Christmas pudding rodeo need?

Indoors it wants about 10ft of height clearance and a 20ft x 20ft operating space on a flat floor, with one standard 13amp socket within reach and a minimum 1m access width to get the kit through the building. If your room is tight, send us the dimensions and we will tell you straight whether it fits.

Is there a height or age limit for riders?

Riders need to be 1.2 metres or taller and able to climb on and off unaided. The operator sets the speed for each rider, so younger or nervous riders get a gentle spin and anyone who asks for more gets more.

Can the pudding run outdoors at a Christmas market?

Yes, on a flat site, and for exposed winter sites we bring our six-legged spider marquee, 21 feet across with pull-down sides. It encloses the ride and the spectators completely, so a market or school field booking does not depend on the forecast.
