Whack an Elf

Whack an Elf is our Christmas take on whack-a-mole, the arcade game where things pop up and you hit them with a mallet. Instead of mechanical moles, the elves are dome buttons that light up at random across the playfield, and each player takes a padded foam mallet and bashes as many as they can before the countdown on the scoreboard runs out. Two play head to head, the digital scoreboard keeps count, and the sound effects do the rest.

It is a simple game to explain, which is most of why it works at a busy party. Guests lean in, the domes light up, and within a round or two there is a crowd round the cabinet watching somebody in a suit lose to somebody's nan. It went down well at a Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity evening do, which is the sort of event where the room needs something that gets people laughing between the speeches and the disco.

Works well at

Christmas parties and staff dos, school end-of-term events, university balls, pub and club Christmas nights, and family festive weekends. We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the cabinet is ours, so the member of staff who runs it is one of our own, first-aid trained and enhanced-DBS registered. The electrics are PAT-tested every year, we carry £10 million public liability insurance with additional licensed-premises cover, and the certificate and risk assessment are available on request. We deliver, set up, supervise and take down across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and into London, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Guildford and London.
