Rodeo Pumpkin Hire

Manufacturer/supplier: GS Engineering.

The rodeo pumpkin, sometimes booked as a Halloween mechanical bull or a spooky rodeo, is the same spinning, bucking machine as our rodeo bull with a giant carved pumpkin sat on the base instead of the bull. Riders climb on, the machine spins and bucks, and most of them end up on the padded floor of the inflatable surround before too long. The large LED timer beside the ride keeps score, so the argument over who stayed on longest settles itself.

One of our operators runs the pumpkin for the whole hire from the control box, setting the speed and the spin to suit whoever is on it. A nervous ten-year-old gets a slower ride than a confident adult who has asked for everything you have got, which is the same arrangement on every rodeo we run.

Equipment details

  • Staffed throughout: our operator sets the speed and spin for each rider
  • Riders 1.2 metres tall and over, who can climb on and off unaided
  • Inflatable surround with a padded floor for soft landings
  • Large LED timer for stay-on-longest competitions
  • GS Engineering multi-ride base, the same unit the rest of our rodeo attachments fit
  • One standard 13amp socket, and we bring a generator if the nearest one is more than about 50 metres away
  • Indoors it wants about 10ft of height clearance; outdoors it needs a flat site
  • Minimum 1m access width to get the kit in
  • Fully ADIPS certified

Outdoor hires in October

Late-October weather does what it likes, so for outdoor hires we can bring our six-legged spider marquee, 21 feet across with pull-down sides that enclose it fully. It takes the ride plus a crowd of spectators, and it means a drizzly Halloween event still runs rather than gets called off.

Works well at

Halloween parties, pub and club nights, school discos in the last week before half term, staff parties, university events and community spooky evenings. If your event is in December rather than October, the rodeo Christmas pudding is the same machine in festive dress, and the rodeo reindeer covers the same ground. The full rodeo rides range is on one page.

Rodeo pumpkin hire across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London

We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is all ours, so the operator who turns up is one of our own staff, not a sub-contractor. Every member of the team has passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, is first-aid trained and holds an enhanced DBS certificate, which matters for school and community bookings. The rodeo is a mechanical amusement device, and ours are inspected and certified under the ADIPS scheme. We carry £10 million public liability insurance with additional licensed-premises cover, so the pumpkin can run at a pub, club or bar without any insurance hold-ups, and the certificate is available on request.

We deliver across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and into London, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Guildford and London. Tell us the date, the venue, whether it is indoors or out, and roughly how many you are expecting, and we will come back with a quote.

Absolutely brilliant professionals, really easy to deal with from the start of the enquiry to the event date. The staff running the event were very professional and friendly. Thank you for a great day.

Frequently asked questions

Is the rodeo pumpkin suitable for children?

Riders need to be 1.2 metres or taller and able to climb on and off unaided, which in practice means around ten and up. The operator sets the speed for each rider, so younger or nervous riders get a slow, gentle spin while adults can ask for everything the machine has.

What happens if the October weather turns?

The ride itself is fully inflatable-surrounded and can run outdoors on a flat, dry site, but for exposed outdoor events we bring our six-legged spider marquee, 21 feet across with pull-down sides. It encloses the ride and the spectators completely, so the event runs whatever the sky is doing. Indoors, the pumpkin needs about 10ft of height clearance.

Can we have the pumpkin and the bull at the same event?

The pumpkin is one attachment on our GS Engineering multi-ride base, the same machine the bull, sheep, pig, reindeer and Christmas pudding fit. Most bookings take one attachment with the operator running it throughout, but the attachment can be swapped over in a few minutes on a longer booking if you want both.
