Rodeo Sheep Hire
The rodeo sheep, also called a bucking sheep or a mechanical sheep, is the gentler sibling of the rodeo bull. The rider climbs on and tries to stay put while the sheep spins, bucks and rocks from side to side, and when they come off, which most people do fairly quickly, they land on the padded inflatable floor rather than the ground. Because there are no horns and nothing to grip hold of like you get on the bull, it is a harder ride than it looks, which is half the fun of it.
One of our staff runs it for the whole hire. They control the speed and the spin from the control box, starting slow for younger or nervous riders and winding it up as people get braver. The large LED timer alongside tracks how long each rider lasts, and if you want to run it as a competition to see who stays on longest, the operator will keep the scoreboard going all day. It draws a crowd, partly the queue and partly the people watching the rider get bucked off.
Jenny and Mark Buckett had the rodeo sheep at their wedding and wrote afterwards: "Just wanted to say a big thank you for providing the bouncy castle and rodeo sheep, it all went perfectly." They also said Jamie, the operator, was "very nice guy and easy going, only thing I would like to raise is Jamie's face after throwing the bride off the rodeo sheep may be enjoying your work to much, but very funny."
Equipment details
- Staffed throughout the hire: our operator controls the speed and spin, not the rider
- Riders 1.2m tall and above who can climb on and off unaided
- Round inflatable surround with a padded floor for soft landings
- Large LED timer for stay-on-longest competitions
- GS Engineering multi-ride base unit
- Runs from a standard domestic mains socket
- Indoor or outdoor use, on a flat site
- Indoors it needs about 10ft of height clearance and a 20ft x 20ft operating space
- Minimum 1m access width to get the kit in
- Fully ADIPS certified
Works well at
It suits weddings well, partly because the sheep is less intimidating to look at than the bull. It also goes down well at birthday parties, school and college events, young farmers dos, corporate fun days, village fetes and Christmas parties. We have run it indoors in a marquee and outdoors on grass, and it works the same either way.
The same GS Engineering base unit takes other attachments, so if you want a different look for a themed event, the rodeo bull, rodeo pig, rodeo rugby ball and the seasonal rodeo reindeer, rodeo pumpkin and rodeo Christmas pudding all fit the same machine. The full rodeo rides range is on one page.
Rodeo sheep hire across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London
We have run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is all ours, so the person who turns up to run the sheep is one of our own staff and not a sub-contractor. They have passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, are first-aid trained, and hold enhanced DBS certificates, which matters for school and council bookings. The rodeo ride is ADIPS-certified, the electrics are PAT-tested every year, and the risk assessment is available on request. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate available on request, and we hold additional licensed-premises cover, so there is no issue running the sheep at a pub, club or bar.
If your venue is near Havant, Portsmouth, Southampton, Guildford or London, we deliver and set up from our own workshop. Send us the date and venue and we will come back with availability and a price.
