Archery Hire
Archery hire - sometimes called mobile archery or have-a-go archery - brings a traditional recurve range to your event, set up and run by our instructors from start to finish.
We bring the targets, bows, arrows and the safety backstop. The standard option is two targets with one instructor, or four targets with two instructors if you have the numbers for it. Up to four people shoot at a time. The setup takes a 40ft by 60ft area with clear ground behind the targets - no footpaths, no thoroughfares downrange. If your site can't accommodate that, it's worth checking with us before you book rather than on the day.
Our minimum age is 8. There's no upper limit. First-timers pick it up without much difficulty. The instructor gives a short briefing on stance, safety and how to draw a recurve bow, then participants work through their turns at their own pace. Games and scoring competitions can be added if you want a bit more structure to the session.
The instructors we send have all passed the RPII operators and supervisors examinations, hold current first-aid certificates and are enhanced DBS registered. Risk assessments and method statements are available for venues, schools and councils that need them. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate available on request.
Archery is on our always-staffed list, which means a trained Monster operator attends as standard and you don't have the option to self-supervise. The person who runs the session is a Monster employee, not a sub-contractor we've passed the job to.
We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, covering Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, and into London and Berkshire. The policy carries £10 million public liability with additional licensed-premises cover for pubs, clubs and bars, and the certificate is available on request.
It tends to work well at school fetes, birthday parties, corporate fun days, village fairs and private outdoor events. It also goes down well at weddings, particularly in the gap between the ceremony and the meal when guests need something to do.
If you want a faster, more physical version of the same idea, we also hire Combat Tag Archery - a team-based game using foam-tipped arrows - and Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, which uses infrared shotgun replicas and an auto-launching clay launcher, up to five players at once. The full range is on our shooting and archery hire page.
Frequently asked questions
-
How much space do we need? A 40ft by 60ft area with clear ground behind the targets. No footpaths or thoroughfares downrange. We can check your site on a call or a photo if you're unsure.
-
What age is it suitable for? Eight and up. There's no upper limit. The bows have a light draw weight but you still need to be able to hold and draw them properly, so it depends on the individual more than a hard cut-off.
-
Do participants need any experience? No. First-timers pick it up without much difficulty. The instructor gives a short briefing on stance, safety and how to draw the bow before anyone shoots.
-
How many people can shoot at once? Up to four at a time with the standard setup. We can run games and scoring competitions if you want more structure.
If you want to check availability or get a quote for your event, use the enquiry form or call us on 01428 751925. We reply the same day and can send across the insurance certificate, risk assessment and method statement if your venue or your office needs them.

Hi Joanne,
I'm just writing to say a massive thank you for your services and help on Saturday. The two lads you sent down to set-up and break down were excellent and both had brilliant attitudes, a really good advert for your company!
Hopefully we can stay in contact for any future events.
Many Thanks
