Student Event Hire Winchester

Student event hire in Winchester keeps the van on the M3 through the term. The University of Winchester and Peter Symonds College are in the city itself, and University Centre Sparsholt sits a few miles out. Between them the student calendar runs freshers fairs, applicants days, winter balls and a summer ball, and Sparsholt in particular has us back several times a term.

The Sparsholt run

University Centre Sparsholt is the booking we know best in this patch. We've covered their freshers fair with a 28ft by 58ft marquee over all the stalls, and because the anchor pins need somewhere firm to go, that marquee wants a flat grassed area, so it's worth telling us early where the fair sits on campus. Underneath it we've run the green screen photo booth, the gold cup horse racing and the bungee run, and a year later the booth went back out branded in Sparsholt's own colours and university branding for the new intake.

The evening side of Sparsholt freshers has had the magic mirror, the rodeo bull and the lights out challenge at the freshers ball, and the 2026 ball went Wild West, with rodeo, carnival stalls, cactus lasso and green screen photos on the night. Their Halloween event has run the green screen booth alongside Pixel Play and the Vault, the Christmas ball had the magic mirror, the racing simulators and a set of the electronic games out together, and the February ball brought the photo booth back out with the 80s retro arcade machines. Come May, their university ball took a spread of electronic games, the magic mirror, inflatable axe throwing and the high striker. The July applicants welcome day runs two days on the trot, with the photo booth and Kick N Stick foot darts out for the prospective students and their families.

The University of Winchester students' union has had us at their freshers fair too, with the laser tag arena and the lights out challenge on the stand for the new undergraduates. Peter Symonds College, the sixth form in the city, runs the same kind of enrichment calendar, and because plenty of its students are under 18, the enhanced-DBS register our crew sit on matters for anything we do there.

Kit that fits a campus

For a freshers fair, the kit that earns its place is short-round with a score people can see: the high striker, the giant buzz wire, Under Pressure, the dance machine, the arcade machines, interactive darts and the Batak Pro. Students are walking past with a tote bag and a new flatmate, so a 30-second turn beats a 10-minute one every time. Photo booths and the magic selfie mirror come staffed and print on the night, which suits a ball, a graduation event or an applicants day where the queue builds after the first print goes round the room.

Evening socials and SU balls take the rodeo bull, which works indoors if the ceiling height allows and wants around 20ft by 20ft of floor. The surf simulator and the last man standing sweeper are the other two that fill a hall quickly. For a summer ball out on the grass, the climbing wall, laser tag, the assault courses and laser clays go out instead, and every outdoor inflatable travels with an anemometer and the 24mph wind cutoff written into the paperwork.

Rooms, power and procurement

Most SU bars and college common rooms run on standard 13amp sockets, and the electronic games are indoor plug-in kit, so a hall with a couple of doubles and level access takes most of the freshers list. Colleges and students' unions usually book through an events office or a procurement route, so the insurance certificate, the risk assessment and the method statement are sent with the quote, and multi-day applicants-week bookings are routine for us.

We're Joanne and David Morris, family-run from our commercial unit in Havant since 2002, and Winchester is about 25 miles north of us, M3 most of the way. The whole fleet is owned outright with nothing sub-contracted, the cover is £10 million public liability including licensed-premises venues, and our in-house RPII inspector puts every PIPA-tagged inflatable through its annual check.

The Winchester event hire hub lists everything we send up the M3, and the local pages cover the pieces students book most: rodeo bull hire Winchester, photo booth hire Winchester and shooting games Winchester. The student and freshers event hire and college and university event hire pages cover the two halves of the student year, and the green screen photo booth and rodeo bull pages carry the specifications.

For a quote, send the institution, the event type, the date, the room or site, the timings, the numbers you expect and whether people arrive in waves. Power and access details help, and if the booking goes through procurement, give us the deadline and we'll turn the paperwork round to suit.

Monster Event Hire were absolutely brilliant, from swift email communication to attentive service on the day. The students, 250 of them, had an incredible time and Dave and the girls were outstanding. I would definitely use them again and look forward to developing this over the coming years.
