The 4 player Dash N Grab - the same giant hungry hippos game as our bigger arena, squeezed into a 7m square - is a black and red inflatable arena where four players race to collect the most balls from a central pit. Each player starts at a corner, straps into a harness connected to a bungee cord, and when the game starts everyone charges the middle to grab as many of the soft balls as they can carry and hauls them back to their corner before the cord snaps them home. The bungee does the work of making it difficult, and the mesh walls keep the balls in the arena.

We've run the eight-player Dash N Grab for years, and this four-player version is that game at roughly half the footprint: 7.45m x 7m against 12m x 12m. That's the whole point of it. The big arena wants a serious patch of grass or a large hall, and plenty of venues don't have one. The four-player goes into school halls, onto modest lawns and into the corner of a showground that the 12-metre version wouldn't fit, and at 2.55m high it goes into most sports halls once the ceiling's been checked.

Rounds are short and the reset is quick, so it turns over a queue fast for its size. Four at a time suits the smaller venue it's built for, and the head-to-head corners give it the same shout-at-your-mates quality that makes the eight-player a fun-day regular.

We deliver and set up from our commercial unit in Havant, and we've run Monster Event Hire since 2002. The unit is ours, bought new from Airquee and stored and repaired in our own workshop, like the rest of a fleet we own outright with no sub-hiring. It goes out PIPA-tagged and inspected annually by our in-house RPII inspector, and the member of staff running it is RPII-examined, first-aid trained and enhanced-DBS registered. We carry £10 million public liability insurance with the certificate available on request.
