Student Event Hire Guildford

Student event hire in Guildford draws on the biggest student population in the county, with the University of Surrey campus at Stag Hill above the town and Guildford College in the centre. The diary brings freshers fairs and welcome days in September, the Christmas ball season, February balls and the summer balls that close the year from May to July. The RGS Guildford upper sixth have had us for their leavers day, and the run up from Havant is about 43 miles, A3 most of the way.

Sixth form leavers days

In May 2026 we spent the day with the RGS Guildford upper sixth for their last day in school, running the last man standing sweeper, dash n grab and hungry hippos. It was another booking with the school, and leavers days like it fill late May and June in our diary. A year group that has finished its exams wants competition, and those three pieces kept the whole floor occupied.

The leavers range for a sixth form runs from the sweeper and the rodeo attachments through to inflatables and laser clays out on a school field. Photo booths and selfie mirrors, staffed and printing on the night, cover the leavers balls and the after parties. Boarding leavers events, where a school feeds a hundred plus children and adults in one sitting, are summer work we know our way round.

The university and college calendar

Up on Stag Hill, the University of Surrey's SU and events teams book the kind of kit we hold for welcome week, accommodation socials and the ball season, and we haven't got a booked campus event behind us to point at yet, so we'll stick to what the kit does. Guildford College in the town centre runs its own welcome and applicants days, and the local December record shows university and college balls across GU1 to GU5. What fits the balls and graduation events is the staffed photo work, and the rodeo bull and surf simulator carry the evenings, while the climbing wall, laser tag and laser clays suit a summer ball or a sports day on the campus lawns.

Loading, sockets and procurement

Central Guildford venues can be tight on loading access, which is worth flagging at enquiry stage so the pieces get picked to fit the room. The indoor games are plug-in kit on 13amp sockets, and the rodeo runs indoors where a hall gives it roughly 20ft by 20ft and enough ceiling. A marquee over outdoor stalls needs flat grass for the pins, so the campus lawn matters as much as the hall.

University and college bookings tend to arrive through procurement or an events office, and the pack they need is on the shelf: the £10 million public liability certificate with licensed-premises cover, risk assessments and method statements, PIPA tags on every inflatable with annual inspections, and PAT-tested electricals. The fleet is ours outright, nothing is sub-hired, and the staff we send have passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams and sit on the enhanced-DBS register. Family-run by Joanne and David Morris since 2002, the company works out of a commercial unit in Havant with the whole range under one roof.

The Guildford event hire hub lists everything, and the local pages cover rodeo bull hire Guildford, photo booth hire Guildford and shooting games hire Guildford. The parent pages sit at students and freshers and colleges and universities, with the rodeo bull and sweeper product pages alongside.

A quote starts with the institution, the event, the date and the room or lawn, then the timings, the expected numbers, whether people arrive in waves, and any access or power constraints. Procurement deadlines and insurance requirements can come with the first email and we'll turn the file round quickly.

Arranging a BBQ for over 120 children and adults is quite stressful but with their professionalism, everything ran smoothly.
