Student Event Hire Brent

Student event hire in Brent usually means the College of North West London, which runs its Willesden and Wembley campuses either side of the borough. The student diary there follows much the same shape as a university one, with freshers fairs and welcome days in September, balls at Christmas and in the spring, and leavers events plus the summer ball from May into July. We deliver to all of it from our commercial unit in Havant, an 80-mile run up the A3 and round the M25 that we make through the season.

The student calendar in the borough

Colleges across Brent book through an events office, an enrichment team or the SU, and the year has a rhythm we know well. September wants attractions students can join between timetabled sessions, the December and February balls need evening kit that holds a queue, and the applicants and taster days from spring onwards bring prospective students round campus in escorted groups. Multi-day bookings are ordinary work for us, and we've covered three consecutive days of applicants events at Andover College with the magic selfie mirror.

Games that suit a walk-past crowd

A freshers fair runs on footfall, so the games we send are the ones with a short round and a score anyone can see. The high striker, giant buzz wire, Under Pressure, the dance machine, arcade machines, interactive darts and Batak Pro are the usual picks, and every one of them is indoor plug-in kit that runs off a standard 13amp socket. Students stop for half a minute, post the score, and the next group is already waiting, which keeps a busy concourse moving.

The photo booths and the selfie mirrors come staffed and print on the night, so nobody from the college has to run them. A green screen booth suits a freshers fair or an applicants day, while the magic mirror has done graduation events and multi-day taster weeks for us elsewhere in the country. For an evening ball the rodeo bull and the surf simulator carry the night, and the rodeo works indoors where the ceiling height allows, in a clear area of about 20ft by 20ft.

Where the fair sits out on campus grass, a marquee over the stalls is worth pricing in. The one we erected over the Sparsholt College freshers fair was 28ft by 58ft with room for every stand, and that size wants flat grass because the anchor pins go straight into the ground. Outdoor kit such as the climbing wall, laser tag, the assault courses and laser clays suits summer balls and sports days, and every outdoor inflatable travels with an anemometer and the written 24mph cutoff.

Paperwork, power and the run up from Havant

London college bookings usually pass through procurement, and the file is the same each time. We can send the £10 million public liability certificate, with the licensed-premises cover included, alongside the risk assessment and method statement, and the safeguarding lead will want to hear that every member of our crew is enhanced-DBS registered, which matters when a taster day brings school-age visitors on site. Common rooms and SU bars run on the same standard 13amp sockets the electronic games need anyway.

It's about 80 miles from the workshop to the borough, up the A3 and round the M25, so it helps to have setup times with us early. Brent also runs on controlled parking zones, so the van's parking and the unloading route are worth sorting with the campus at the booking stage.

The business has been family-run by Joanne and David Morris since 2002, the entire fleet is owned outright with nothing sub-contracted, and the inflatables are PIPA tagged and inspected every year by our own in-house RPII inspector. The crew that arrives is the crew the college booked.

For the local picture, the Brent event hire hub lists everything we run in the borough, with the rodeo bull hire and photo booth hire pages covering the student favourites. The assault course hire page has the bigger outdoor pieces, and the freshers and student events and college and university events pages walk through the whole calendar. Of the individual products, the rodeo bull and the dance machine are the two we're asked for most at student dates.

For a quote, send the college name, the event type, the date, the room or site, the timings, the expected numbers and whether groups arrive in waves. Add the power and access details if you have them, plus any procurement deadline, and we'll get the price and the certificates back inside it.

Monster Event Hire were absolutely brilliant, from swift email communication to attentive service on the day. The students, 250 of them, had an incredible time and Dave and the girls were outstanding. I would definitely use them again and look forward to developing this over the coming years.
