Student Event Hire Windsor

College and university event hire in Windsor is mostly boarding school work in our experience, and Eton College is the booking we have run out there. We took the Multi-Sports Arena and the crazy golf to Eton for a boarders funday, and the Sunday slot suits our kit and crew well. Student events across the town follow the same annual shape, from September welcome days through to the leavers season at the end of the summer term.

Boarders, houses and Sundays

The Eton College job was a Sunday funday for the boarders, with the Multi-Sports Arena and the crazy golf out on the school site. The arena plays bouncy football, volleyball, dodgeball and basketball depending on the group, and it kept the competition and the bragging rights going all afternoon. School staff stayed on the pastoral side while our operators ran the kit, which is how we like it with a house full of children.

Boarding schools around Windsor use us for the weekends and evenings that fill the gaps in the school week: Sunday fundays, house socials, end-of-term nights and sixth-form leavers events. Those events are full of under-18s, so every member of our crew is on the enhanced-DBS register, first-aid trained and RPII-examined, and the school office can have the insurance certificate, the risk assessment and the method statement well before the date.

The rest of the student diary follows the year: freshers season and welcome days in September, Christmas dos in December, the February balls, then leavers days and summer balls from May to July. A college or SU team booking a summer ball usually wants a mix of evening kit and lawn kit, and we own the lot, from the rodeo bull and the surf simulator for the hall to the climbing wall and laser tag for the grass.

Space, power and site rules

School sites bring gates, ground staff and loading windows, so it's worth settling the access details at enquiry stage. Indoors, the common rooms and halls run on standard 13amp sockets and the electronic games are plug-in kit; the rodeo bull wants around 20ft by 20ft plus the ceiling height to work inside. Out on the lawns, anything inflatable goes out with an anemometer and the 24mph wind cutoff, and both the marquee and the crazy golf want flat grass.

We're Joanne and David Morris, and we've run the firm since 2002 from our own commercial unit in Havant, with Windsor round about 50 miles away, usually the A3 and M25 or the M3 when the day sends us that way. Nothing is sub-hired, so the arena, the golf and everything else on the lorry is owned outright, and the crew who quote and deliver are the same people. Our operators hold the RPII supervisor and operator exams as well as the first-aid and DBS checks.

The Windsor event hire hub covers the rest of the diary, and the schools cluster on the Ascot side of the patch, which keeps its own garden games page. The student and freshers event hire page covers daytime events, and college and university event hire covers balls, leavers and graduations. The rodeo bull and the last man standing sweeper pages have the two evening pieces we send most.

To get a quote moving, send the school or venue, the sort of event, the date, the timings and the rough headcount, plus whether it's boarders only or a wider year group. Tell us about the gates, the power and where the van can park, and if the bursar needs the compliance pack by a set date, we'll have it ready.

Arranging a BBQ for over 120 children and adults is quite stressful but with their professionalism, everything ran smoothly.
