Student Event Hire Totton
College event hire in Totton centres on Totton College, the SO40 further-education option sitting on the Southampton side of the New Forest. Its student year follows the familiar shape, with welcome and freshers events in September, a Christmas do, and leavers and end-of-year celebrations as the summer term closes. We can't point to a Totton student booking in the diary, so this page covers the kit and the ground realities, and the honest starting point is that Forest-fringe sites need checking before anything gets promised.
What the Totton College year asks for
A September welcome event at a college this size is a walk-past crowd, so the pieces that earn their keep are the ones with quick turns and a score on show: the high striker, the giant buzz wire, the dance machine and the arcade machines, all plug-in kit for a standard 13amp socket. Freshers fairs add a photo booth, and ours turn up staffed, printing on the night, so nobody from the SU has to learn the machine mid-event. Applicants and taster days in spring run the same kit across two or three days, which is a routine shape of booking for us.
The evening side of the year, the Christmas ball, the February ball and the leavers night, suits the rodeo bull and the surf simulator. The rodeo needs around 20ft by 20ft of clear floor and enough ceiling height for a rider at full buck, which is worth checking against the function room before it goes on the shortlist, and it runs happily indoors on a 13amp supply. A leavers afternoon with lawn space goes bigger, with an assault course, laser tag or laser clays outside and the electronic games carrying on in the hall.
Ground, access and the Forest edge
Totton sits just west of Southampton, about 25 miles from the workshop, and the sites round SO40 are school fields, college grounds and Forest-fringe lawns where the ground can be gravelly, sloped or lifted by roots. Flat ground is the first check for anything inflatable or pegged down, and we'd always rather tell you a piece doesn't fit than discover it on the day. The van needs to stop within 50 metres of the pitch and a route at least 36 inches wide to carry the kit through, so send the access details with the enquiry.
Outdoor inflatables travel with an anemometer and the written 24mph shutdown rule, and the marquee that covers freshers stalls needs flat grass for its anchor pins. Power indoors is one 13amp socket per unit, and a generator comes along when the nearest socket is beyond lead length.
Paperwork and how we work
College bookings usually come through an events office or procurement, and the file gets the insurance certificate, the risk assessment and the method statement at quote stage, with the £10 million public liability cover including the licensed-premises extension. Where under-18s are expected, the enhanced-DBS registration every crew member holds answers the safeguarding question early. The whole fleet is ours, with nothing sub-hired or passed to other firms, our operators hold the RPII operator and supervisor exams, and everyone we send is first-aid trained.
The universities over in Southampton sit close enough that a Totton college date can share a van run, and our student and freshers and college and university pages explain the two parent services. The Totton event hire hub lists everything we run in SO40, the rodeo bull hire Totton, photo booth hire Totton and assault course hire Totton pages cover the individual ranges, and the rodeo bull and green screen photo booth pages show the kit.
To get a quote moving, tell us the college and the event type, the date and rough timings, the room or site with its surface, power and access, the numbers expected and whether they arrive in waves, plus any procurement deadline, and we'll price it with the paperwork attached.
Well organised. Our students really enjoyed the event
