150ft Army Assault Course Hire

The 150ft Army Assault Course is the biggest inflatable obstacle course we run, and it's usually what people mean when they ask for an inflatable army assault course, a military obstacle course or just the big one. It's 150 feet of camouflage inflatable, branded ULTIMATE CHALLENGE down the side, with a run of obstacles to climb over, squeeze past, slide down and crawl through from one end to the other. At 150 feet there's enough of it to keep a long queue moving, with one person going in after another rather than everyone waiting on a single turn, which is half the reason it holds up at a busy event.

The obstacles change as you work down it. There are walls to climb, straight runways to sprint along, slides to come down, pop-up pillars to squeeze between, printed with soldier silhouettes and targets, and tunnels to duck and crawl through. It's more a test of stamina and a bit of nerve than skill, so it works for children, teenagers and adults, and the people watching from the side tend to enjoy it nearly as much as whoever's on it.

Size, power and setup

• 150ft long x 12ft wide x 15ft high, the largest assault course we hire
• Runs from six standard 13amp domestic sockets
• Usually an outdoor job on grass or hard standing; indoors only somewhere with the height and length to take it, like a sports hall
• Flat ground, room for the unit and a safe gap around it, and about a metre of access to get the kit in
• We deliver, set it up and collect it; one of our staff can stay on to run it, or you can supervise it yourself with a responsible adult

Works well at

It earns its keep where you've a lot of people and a long afternoon to fill: school fun days and sports days, corporate fun days and team-building, 18ths and birthday parties, college and university events, and community festivals or village fêtes. We took it to a families' day for the Coldstream Guards Welfare, who had hired from us a few times before, and they said the children "loved the assault course". We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is all ours, so the people who turn up to deliver and set it up are our own staff and not a sub-contractor. They've passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, are first-aid trained, and hold enhanced DBS certificates, which matters at a school or a council event. Every inflatable is inspected once a year by our in-house RPII inspector under the PIPA scheme, the one the HSE recognises, and it's built to BS EN 14960:2019. Because it stands fifteen foot up it catches the wind, so it goes out with an anemometer and a written procedure: somebody competent takes a reading every half hour, and it comes off use at 24mph. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate and the risk assessment available on request, and we hold additional licensed-premises cover, so there's no issue running it at a pub, club or bar.
