125ft Army Assault Course Hire

The 125ft Army Assault Course - also called a military obstacle course, an army obstacle course or just the big army run - is one of the longer inflatables we send out, a hundred and twenty-five feet of camouflage from one end to the other. It's part of our army range, the same Ultimate Challenge line as the 150ft and the shorter courses, and it's a popular one for bigger events because there's enough of it to keep a long queue moving rather than everyone waiting on a single go.

You start at one end and work your way down: in through the biff and bash, the inflatable pillars you push and squeeze between, over and through the obstacles in the middle, down a mega slide with a 10ft drop, then another slide after it, and a last run through the biff and bash to finish. It is more about stamina and a touch of nerve than skill, so it works for children and adults alike. With this much length you get a proper race out of it, two going in side by side or one straight after another, and there's usually a fair crowd watching from the side, not just queuing for a turn. The photo shows it run out across a playing field, which gives a fair idea of the footprint it wants.

Size, power and setup

• 125ft long x 12ft wide x 15ft high, one of the bigger courses we run
• It needs five standard 13amp domestic sockets, more than the shorter army courses, so check there are five plug points within reach of where it's going
• Usually an outdoor job on grass or hard standing; it will go indoors only somewhere with the length and the height for it, like a large sports hall
• Flat ground, room for the course with a safe gap down the sides and at each end for queuing and watching, and clear access to get the kit in off the lorry
• It splits into sections for transport, so it gets through most gateways once it is unloaded
• We deliver it, set it up and collect it; one of our staff can stay on to run it, or you can supervise it yourself with a responsible adult

Where it works

The 125ft course earns its keep where you have a lot of people and a long afternoon to fill. It tends to go out for school fun days and sports days, corporate fun days and team-building, 18ths and birthday parties where the guest list has outgrown a bouncy castle, college and university events, and community festivals or village fetes. Scout and Cub groups book it too. Hilary hired one of our inflatables for her Cubs and wrote afterwards that it "was a huge hit over the weekend for our Cubs (and some of the adults!)", which is about right for a course this size, because the adults rarely stand and watch for long.

If 125 feet is more than your site will take, we run the same army course shorter: the 86ft, the 75ft, the 60ft and the 50ft, or the Boot Camp Challenge for a smaller space. The 150ft Army Assault Course is the biggest we run if you want more again. We have run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the course is ours, kept and maintained in our own workshop, so the people who turn up to deliver and set it up are our own staff and not a sub-contractor. They have passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, are first-aid trained, and hold enhanced DBS certificates, which is worth knowing for a school, a Scout group or a council booking. Every inflatable is inspected once a year by our in-house RPII inspector under the PIPA scheme, the one the HSE recognises, and it is built to BS EN 14960:2019. Because it stands fifteen foot up it catches the wind, so it goes out with an anemometer and a written procedure: somebody competent takes a reading every half hour, and it comes off use at 24mph. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate and the risk assessment there on request, and we hold additional licensed-premises cover, so running it at a pub, club or bar is no bother.
