A bouncy castle and slide in one unit, which the trade calls a combi castle, is the usual answer to the Surrey back-garden birthday where one inflatable is all there is room for. Children bounce, climb up inside the castle and come back down the slide, so the two things they want most arrive on one blower and one delivery. The three castles split by size and artwork. The princess castle with side slide is a pink and purple combi measuring 18.5ft wide by 14.5ft deep and standing 11ft high, with the slide built down one side, a peaked fitted roof and fairytale artwork front and back. The dragon castle is the biggest of the three at 18ft by 19ft and 16ft high, a children's dragon-themed castle whose yellow side slide exits under the wing, and it wants a clear space of around 28ft by 25ft with about 17.5ft of headroom once everything is allowed for. The Toy Story castle is the most compact at 18ft by 14ft and 9ft high, Woody and Buzz on the pillars with a small side slide, rated for younger children and open-topped so parents can see the whole bed from outside.
Choosing between them is mostly about space and ceiling. All three work on a flat lawn or hard standing, with grass the easier anchor; the height is what rules sites out, since 16ft of castle wants 17.5ft of clear air and even the 9ft Toy Story unit needs a hall ceiling above that if the party moves indoors. Narrow gates, slopes and overhanging branches are worth flagging with the enquiry, and a generator comes along for the gardens with no socket near the pitch.

The Toy Story castle at 9ft high clears most school and village-hall ceilings, and the princess castle at 11ft suits the larger halls and marquees.
