Sumo Suit Hire

The sumo suits - sometimes listed as sumo wrestling hire, inflatable sumo wrestling or padded wrestling suits - are a head-to-head game for two players at a time on a 15ft x 15ft padded battle mat. Each player suits up in an oversized padded suit with a head guard and tries to push the other person out of the ring, or "turtle" them - get them flat on their back on the mat. The suits add enough bulk that raw strength doesn’t count for as much as you might expect, which tends to level the field between a 19-year-old and their dad.

It draws a watching crowd on its own, which is useful at events where you need a focal point.

What we have

We stock four suit variants:

• Standard adult suits - tan-coloured full-size suits, the straightforward version
• Kids’ suits - smaller versions on the same setup, for younger participants
• Santa suits - red suits with full Santa hats, the ones that come out for Christmas parties and work dos
• Superhero suits - Batman vs Robin for adults, Hulk vs Superman for the kids’ version

The suits work indoors and outdoors - we’ve set them up in function rooms and halls as well as on outdoor grass.

What it suits

It tends to work at birthday parties - 18ths, 21sts and the rounder-number milestones tend to bring out the most willing participants - and at corporate team-building events, school fun days and village fêtes. The Santa suits are a natural fit for Christmas party entertainment and work dos. The kit and the people

The suits and mat are ours, owned outright and not sub-hired from anyone else. We’ve been running Monster Event Hire from our commercial unit in Havant since 2002 and we carry £10 million Public Liability Insurance - certificate on request. Every member of staff holds an enhanced DBS check and is first-aid trained, which is worth knowing plainly for any booking that involves children or a school group.
