Skateboard Simulator Hire

The skateboard simulator, sometimes called a mechanical skateboard or an inflatable skateboard ride, is a full-size skateboard deck mounted on a powered base in the middle of an inflatable landing bed. The rider stands on the board and tries to keep their balance while our operator works it from a separate control box, tilting and turning the deck the way a half-pipe would in a skate park. Anyone who comes off lands on the padded bed underneath rather than on the floor, so it's the same idea as a rodeo bull but with a skateboard instead of a saddle.

The bed is done out in skate-park graffiti, a grey base with red padded sides covered in spray-can lettering ("SLAM", "FLIP", "GRAB", "SKATE", "SLIDE"), skulls, stars and a cartoon skater. One rider goes at a time, and because our operator sets the difficulty we can keep it slow for younger riders and first-timers and turn it up for anyone in the queue who reckons they can stay on.

It draws a crowd as much as it gets ridden, so it works well at fun days and fêtes as well as parties, where the people waiting their turn are half the entertainment.

How we hire it out

We own all our kit, so the person setting it up and running it on the day is one of our own staff, not a sub-contractor. Everyone on the road has passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, is first-aid trained and is enhanced-DBS registered, which matters if you're booking around children, a school or a faith community. The ride is inspected every year under the ADIPS scheme, the inflatable bed is PIPA-tagged and inspected by our in-house RPII inspector, and the control box and electrics are PAT-tested annually. If we're setting up outside we run the anemometer and the standard 24mph wind-speed cutoff, the same as we do with any inflatable.

We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, covering Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and into London. The policy carries £10 million public liability with additional licensed-premises cover for pubs, clubs and bars, and the certificate is on request.

If you want to compare, the surf simulator is the same ride with a surfboard on top and the snowboard simulator is the winter version. The rodeo bull is the original stay-on-or-come-off ride, and there's the rest of our simulator hire range if you want a look.
