Pirate Ship Inflatable

The pirate ship inflatable - also called a pirate ship assault course, a pirate galleon, or a pirate ship slide and bounce - is a children's unit done out as a galleon, with a slide at one end and a bounce area making up the body of the ship. It is yellow and orange with a band of blue waves around the bottom, it sits on a blue base, and there is a tall brown mast rising at the back. Cartoon pirates are painted along the panels: one in a red headscarf and a striped top on the front plank, a captain with a treasure chest by the arched entrance, and a few more dotted about. A red safety mat sits at the front where the children climb in.

It plays simply enough. Children go up the padded steps inside, which have grab handles up the side, reach the platform at the top, and come down the slide at the front, and there is room to bounce in the body of the ship. It is rated for children only, so it suits a children's birthday party, a school fun day, a church or community event, or a summer fair where the crowd is mostly young. It is a gentler, smaller thing than our long army and jungle assault courses, which take adults and run to 50ft and beyond.

Victoria Marshall, who had one of our assault courses out for a group of little ones, wrote afterwards: "Our little ones looooved your assault course and it was a joy to watch them have so much fun."

The footprint is 25ft by 15ft, and it runs off a single standard 13amp socket, the ordinary domestic kind, rather than the two-plug supply the bigger courses want. That keeps the setup straightforward whether it is going on a back garden, a hall floor or a level bit of playground.

If you are after more pirate kit, we also hire a pirate bouncy castle and a standalone pirate slide. For something longer and tougher aimed at older children and adults, have a look at the 56ft jungle assault course or the fun fair assault course. The full range is on our inflatable assault course hire page.

How we hire it out

We have run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002, and the kit is ours, so we do not sub-hire. The person who delivers it and sets it up is one of our own staff, not an agency casual you meet on the day. Everyone on the road has passed the RPII operator and supervisor exams, holds a current first-aid certificate, and is enhanced-DBS registered, which is worth knowing when the booking is a children's party or a school. The pirate ship is PIPA-tagged and inspected every year by our in-house RPII inspector, and it is built to BS EN 14960:2019. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate and the risk assessment there on request, and we hold additional licensed-premises cover, so a pub, club or social-club do is no bother. It is normally a self-supervised dry hire, but we can send a trained, DBS-checked operator to run it if you would rather not supervise it yourself.

You can read more on coverage in our Havant, Portsmouth, Southampton, Hampshire and Surrey areas. Tell us your date, the venue, and roughly how many children you are expecting, and we will put a quote together.

Hi Joanne,

Just wanted to write and say a quick thank you for the inflatable assault course yesterday. Everything went to plan and the kids had a fantastic time! I'll be back in touch to book the same again for next year.

Kind regards,

Charlotte

Frequently asked questions

Is the pirate ship suitable for adults, or just for children?

It is rated for children only, so it is not one for grown-ups to have a go on. It is built for younger party-goers at a children's birthday, a school fun day or a community event. If you want a course that takes adults as well, our longer army and jungle assault courses are rated for older children and adults, and we are happy to point you to the right one for the ages you are expecting.

How much space and power does the pirate ship need?

The unit itself is 25ft by 15ft, and you want a bit of clearance around it for the blower and the anchoring, plus a clear way in. It runs off a single standard 13amp socket, the ordinary domestic kind, so you do not need the two-plug supply some of our bigger courses ask for. A flat lawn, a hall floor or a level bit of playground all work. Tell us the venue when you enquire and we will check access and power before the day.

How is the pirate ship different from your big army and jungle assault courses?

The pirate ship is a children-only unit at 25ft by 15ft, built around a slide and a bounce area rather than a long run of obstacles, and it runs off one domestic plug. The army and jungle courses are much longer, from 50ft up to 150ft, they take adults as well as older children, and they need two plugs and drivable access for delivery. For younger children the pirate ship is the one to go for, and for teenagers and grown-ups racing each other the longer courses are a better fit.
