The Giant Velcro Football, sometimes listed as kick-and-stick or a velcro football shootout, is an inflatable target game. You kick the balls at the back wall and try to make them stick, and someone can stand in front and play in goal to keep them out.

It is built on a red inflatable frame with a blue back wall, and the front is a soft green inflatable base you stand and run about on. The back wall has round velcro target panels, a bigger one in the middle and smaller ones either side, and the footballs we supply are the fuzzy velcro sort that grip the panels. The base is soft, so people throw themselves about going for a save without coming to any harm, which is most of the appeal.

Children and adults can pick it up in a few seconds. One person goes in goal, the rest take turns to kick, and you can score off the panels or just see who sticks the most. It runs as a have-a-go game with a queue at a fair, or as a head-to-head between two people at a party, so it covers a steady stream of children at a fete and a smaller group of adults at a corporate day equally well.

Setting up and safety

It is a powered inflatable, so it runs off a blower plugged into a mains socket and needs a flat, open area with a bit of height clearance above it. Outdoors it is staked down on grass, and indoors we weight it instead. We will confirm the footprint and the power it needs once you tell us where it is going, because how much room you want depends on whether people are kicking from a run-up or from a standing start, so we would rather check than guess.

All our inflatables are PIPA tagged and inspected every year by our own RPII inspector, and the blower is PAT tested annually. We have run Monster Event Hire from Havant since 2002, we own all our own kit, and the person who turns up to set it up is one of our staff rather than an agency stand-in. For schools and councils we can supply the risk assessment and insurance paperwork the organiser asks for, including our £10 million public liability cover.
