Cactus Lassoo Hire

The Cactus Lassoo - also called a cactus lasso, cactus hoopla or cactus ring toss - is a Wild West take on the fairground hoopla. Three bright green inflatable cacti stand up from a wood-effect base, and players throw the rope rings to land them over the cactus arms. It sounds simple and it is, right up until the ring pings off the arm for the third go running.

Ours is 7ft long, 2ft deep and about 5ft tall, with CACTUS LASSOOO lettered across the front panel. It's a constant-air inflatable, so it runs off one standard 13A socket for the blower, and it sets up on grass or hard standing, indoors or out. Each go takes seconds, so a queue moves quickly, and it works just as well as a casual have-a-go stall as it does scored head-to-head, most rings on the cactus wins.

Where it suits

Wild west themed events are the obvious home, where it usually goes out as part of a bigger western set: the rodeo bull in the middle, with the rodeo side stall games and the milking cows around it. It's booked in with the wild west theme at university events this term, and it earns its keep at fetes, school fairs, family fun days and corporate fun days too, because children and adults can both have a go without anything needing explaining.

The kit, the people, and the paperwork

We've run Monster Event Hire from our unit in Havant since 2002 and the kit is all ours, so the people who deliver it are our own staff, first-aid trained and enhanced-DBS registered. The inflatables are PIPA-tagged and inspected annually, we carry £10 million public liability insurance, and the certificate and a risk assessment are yours on request for the venue's paperwork.
