Arcade Games Hire

Arcade games hire - sometimes called arcade machine hire, retro arcade cabinet hire or classic video game hire - is three upright cabinets that we send out together: Pac-Man, Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Space Invaders. They are Arcade1Up cabinets, officially licensed 3/4-scale replicas of the original machines, each sitting on a riser so they stand at a normal standing-play height.

The Pac-Man cabinet runs Pac-Man and Pac-Man Plus from its on-screen menu. The Street Fighter cabinet runs Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. The Space Invaders cabinet runs Space Invaders Original and Space Invaders Color. They're all coinless - you pick a game from the menu and press start - so nobody needs a pocketful of 10p pieces.

Each cabinet is about 19 inches wide, 23 inches front to back and roughly 4ft 10in tall on its riser, which means they'll go through a standard doorway and sit in a function room or marquee without taking over the space. You need one standard 13-amp socket per machine and they're indoor or marquee only - the screens wash out in direct sunlight and the electrics aren't weatherproof.

Hampshire, Surrey and round our way

We've run Monster Event Hire from our commercial unit in Havant, PO9, since 2002, and everything we send out is ours rather than sub-hired. The person who sets up on the day is one of our own staff - RPII-trained, first-aid trained and enhanced-DBS registered - not an agency casual. We cover Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and into London on our own vehicles, and delivery, setup and collection are in the quote rather than added on afterwards. We're VAT-registered and carry £10 million public liability insurance, with the certificate and a risk assessment available on request.

Frequently asked questions

• What games are on the cabinets? The Pac-Man cabinet runs Pac-Man and Pac-Man Plus from the menu, the Street Fighter cabinet runs Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, and the Space Invaders cabinet runs Space Invaders Original and Space Invaders Color. They're coinless - just select and press start.

• Can they go outdoors? No. The screens don't cope with direct sunlight and the cabinets aren't weatherproof. A marquee with a solid floor and sides is fine, but we don't put them on open grass pitches.

• How much space do three cabinets need? Each cabinet needs about 19in of width, 23in front to back and roughly 4ft 10in of height on its riser, plus standing room for two players in front. A corner of a function room or a 4-5 metre wall usually works.

• Do they need coins to play? No. The cabinets run in free-play mode, so you choose a game from the on-screen menu and press start.

• Can I hire just one cabinet? We normally send the three out together, but if you only want one or two, tell us when you enquire and we'll price it accordingly.
