Pick and Mix Stall Hire

The pick and mix stall - also called a cinema-style sweet stand or pick n mix stand - is a self-serve display of assorted sweets in clear bins, the kind you used to see at the cinema before they switched to pre-packed bags. We bring the stand to your venue already stocked, set it up where you want it, and collect it when the event is done.

Our stand comes with 30kg of assorted sweets, which works out at around 500 portions depending on how generous people are with the scoops. The selection includes the usual favourites: cola bottles, jelly babies, milk bottles, fried eggs, shrimps, bananas, dolly mixture, flying saucers, fruit salads, marshmallow twists, lollies, flumps, black jacks and jelly beans. We bring paper bags and scoops, so guests help themselves. If you want extra sweets for a longer event or a bigger crowd, we can add more - just tell us the numbers when you enquire.

The stand itself is a yellow-framed unit with a bright blue header board and roughly 20 clear cylindrical bins. It does not need a power supply, so it works in a marquee, a village hall, a corporate atrium or any dry indoor space. If you are using it outdoors, it needs to be under a gazebo or marquee roof so the sweets do not melt or get rained on. We deliver, set up and collect as part of the hire.

Where it tends to work

The stand suits any event where you want a low-effort crowd-pleaser that does not need staffing or electricity. We see it booked for wedding receptions, birthday parties, christenings, school fun days, corporate family days, exhibition stands, village fetes and charity fundraisers. At exhibitions it works particularly well as a draw on a stand because people stop for a bag of sweets and stay to talk.

The kit, the people and the paperwork

We have run Monster Event Hire from our commercial unit in Havant since 2002, and the pick and mix stand is ours rather than sub-hired. We deliver and set it up ourselves, and the same person who drops it off will be the one who collects it.

We carry £10 million public liability insurance with additional licensed-premises cover, so there is no problem running this at a hotel, pub, club or licensed venue. Our electrical equipment is PAT-tested annually by a certified tester. Every member of staff is RPII-qualified, first-aid trained and enhanced-DBS registered, which matters when we are working at schools, children's parties or events with vulnerable adults.

Where we cover

We deliver across Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London, and we regularly run events in Portsmouth, Southampton, Guildford, Basingstoke, Winchester, Farnborough, Waterlooville, Fareham and the surrounding areas.
