iWall Space Shooter

The iWall is an interactive gaming wall: a big two-screen unit, made by CSE Entertainment in Finland, that runs its games off your body. You step onto the marked spots on the floor mat, the sensor above the screens reads how you move, and the game answers, with no controller involved. Space Shooter is the cooperative game: you and a partner on the mat together, dodging and shooting down the meteorites and space debris coming at you from the screens. The final boss takes the pair of you working in time with each other, which is where the shouting starts.

The maker pitches it at younger players for the cooperation skills and the spatial awareness it trains, and it works the upper body and core while it's at it. Two players, one screen each, the same game: the pair that talks to each other beats the pair that doesn't, and the scores at the end usually show it.

It's a good one for school reward days, youth clubs and family days where two friends or two siblings want a game they can play on the same side. For the competitive version of the same space setting there's Strike X on the same unit, and the ski and football games cover the sporty end of the menu.

It plays on our iWall, one of only a handful in the country. It stands freestanding with a floor mat in front, so it needs a clear run of floor and a socket within reach; give us the room size and expected numbers and we'll confirm the running space, power and staffing on the quote. The first picture comes from the maker, the second is a player mid-save on the wall at an exhibition, and our own event photos will replace them as the wall goes out on hires.
