iWall Grand Slam Baseball

An iWall is a freestanding gaming wall with two big screens and a body-tracking sensor, built by CSE Entertainment in Finland. You play standing on the marked floor mat in front of it, and the screens answer how you lean, jump and reach. Grand Slam Baseball - an interactive baseball game, a home-run derby by another name - is one high-energy inning on those screens: the pitch comes in, you time the swing, and the sensor puts the bat on the ball and sends it into play.

Because each game is a single inning, every pitch and every swing matters. Race around the bases on the good hits, and keep an eye on the fielding, because the other side can shut your rally down. It's a game of timing and reactions, which is why baseball fans and rounders players alike pick it up in a round or two.

Baseball doesn't get played much in this country, but anyone who's played rounders at school knows the shape of it: bat, ball, bases, run. That makes it a good shout at American-themed events and sports evenings, and it holds its own at the school reward days, college events and corporate evenings where the wall does most of its work. The football and Touchdown games cover the other American sports on the same unit.

The unit is our iWall, one of only a handful in the country. The unit is freestanding with the mat in front of it, so the practical requirements are clear floor and a socket within reach, and we confirm the running space, power and staffing when we quote. The first picture is the maker's screenshot of the game, the second is the wall in use at a hotel event, and our own event photos will follow once the wall's been out a few times.

We've worked out of Havant since 2002, and everything on the van is ours and goes out with our own crew. The electrical side is PAT-tested annually, there's £10 million public liability insurance behind it, and the risk assessments go out with the paperwork for your venue.
