iWall Parkour

The iWall is an interactive gaming wall: a big two-screen unit, made by CSE Entertainment in Finland, that runs its games off your body. You step onto the marked spots on the floor mat, the sensor above the screens reads how you move, and the game answers, with no controller involved. The parkour games on it - Parkour and Parkour Extreme, a freerunning game by another name - put a rooftop run on those screens and leave the jumping to you, over the gaps and under the rails.

Parkour is about finding the fastest route and remembering it next time, because the clock is what you're beating. Parkour Extreme runs the same idea on harder routes, and the maker says it's the most popular game on the unit with teenagers. Both are short runs, so the next player is on the mat within a minute or two and the queue keeps moving.

That makes the parkour games a good shout for teen parties, school reward days, youth clubs and college events, where a run of teenagers will keep the mat busy for an hour. They work at family days too, because the crowd round the mat does most of its own entertaining when someone fluffs a jump they've just watched someone else clear.

The unit behind it all is our iWall, one of only a handful in the country.
