iWall KayaKing

An iWall is a freestanding gaming wall with two big screens and a body-tracking sensor, built by CSE Entertainment in Finland. You play standing on the marked floor mat in front of it, and the screens answer how you lean, jump and reach. KayaKing is the kayaking game: paddle a kayak down the river and navigate the checkpoints. The controls are the intuitive part, as the maker puts it - you move your upper body and arms as if you were paddling, and the sensor carries it onto the water on screen.

The motion is one most people know from somewhere, whether that's a kayak, a canoe or a rowing machine at the gym, so it takes a round to get and a while to get good at. The maker credits it with coordination and muscle endurance in the upper body and core, and it's the arm workout on the unit's menu, where Street Racing is the leg one.

It suits school sports days, sports clubs, family days and the watersports crowd at a corporate event, and the river runs are short enough that the queue keeps moving. The ski simulator is the other endurance game on the same unit, and the full games list is on the interactive walls page.

The wall it plays on is our iWall, one of the few in the country. It stands freestanding with its mat in front, so it needs a clear run of floor and a socket within reach; tell us the room and we'll confirm the running space, power and staffing on the quote. The first picture is the maker's, the second is the wall set up in a hotel lobby, and event photos of our own will follow once the unit's been out.

We've been hiring out of our commercial unit in Havant since 2002, and everything that goes out on the vans belongs to us and travels with our own crew. The wall's electrics are PAT-tested annually, the public liability cover runs to £10 million, and risk assessments and method statements are available for your venue's checks.
